Door access control systems

There are several door access control readers available on the market. IP door access control systems are excellent for small to medium systems that include advanced capability such as elevator control, card door access control, door access control system, door control access systems. IP door access control systems consist of access control door lock readers, an access controller, an electric lock, and access control management software. A door access control system is used to prevent unauthorized entry. The door access control systems are made of a card door access control reader and a controller. Credentials like a card door access control, are used to identify the right person who can enter the door. The access door control system determines who can open a specific door at a scheduled time and date.

There is some access control door system that uses simple door readers that connect to central controllers, and there are intelligent reader-controllers that connect to the network. The access control system determines who can open a specific door at a scheduled time and date. All the door access equipment is located at the door and is powered by Power over Ethernet (PoE).

How long-range access control systems work

Long-range access control systems are similar to the standard IP door access control systems. They read a credential and determine if the door or gate should be opened. While the standard systems have a very short range, measured in inches, the long-range readers can operate at a range of over 25 ft. When you want to open a gate to a parking garage from your vehicle, you really can’t use a standard reader. You need a system that provides a much longer range.

All the readers use the same technology for communicating with the credential. The standard short-range IP door access control readers use frequencies of 125KHz or 13.56MHz. These standard credentials are called proximity cards or smartcards.

This proximity card system consists of two components, the reader, and the credential.

The proximity system has an inventive way of providing power to the credential (or card). It actually uses the energy sent from the reader’s antenna. The credential includes an antenna, a capacitor, and an integrated circuit that contains the ID number. When the card is placed within range of the reader, the antenna coil, and capacitor, which form a tuned circuit, absorb and store energy from the field. This energy is rectified to direct current which powers the integrated circuit. The chip sends its ID number or other data to the antenna coil, which transmits it by radio frequency signals back to the reader unit.

Long-range access control reader systems are very similar except they use larger antennas for the reader. The larger antenna allows more energy to be directed at the credential. Some systems use passive credentials while others use active credentials. The active credentials include batteries so the credential must be replaced when the battery dies.

The long-range reader uses higher frequencies, such as 865MHz, or 902MHz. Since this is a different frequency than the standard door readers, the credentials are different. These special credentials are available as a card or as a stick-on tag for the vehicle.

The same access control software (TVIPTirSoft) is used for standard readers and long-range readers. This means that all the readers can be integrated into the organization’s system (except using different credentials). You can select IP door access readers that use proximity credentials, or even biometric readers.

Gate barrier operator components

Barrier gate operator is a self-contained system with and hydraulic system that physically slide or swing a gate to open and close. There are a lot of components that go into a gate operator, such as an access control device, card reader or radio transmitter that tells it to open, and this will allow the gate operator to move from point A to point B and back again. But to get a good barrier gate access control system it must have meet a certain criterion to avoid potential pitfalls. In the usual projects we can find systems that support mechanism on the fence gate, even if it’s a rail and tracks or a wheel mechanism that must be reinforced.
When it comes to choose the right gate access control system you should take into account diverse consideration, due to the fact that not all access control gate systems will suit your needs, and thus we will be deeply explaining down below.

Barrier gate distributors

At present we can find a wide range of barrier gate operators in the market that will offer a different experience with each model, materials, type, access control system and so on. For this reason, we always advice to get an access control gate installer in your area that can help you maintain security by granting necessary site access for commercial and industrial gate access control, and also provide all types of long range, automatic, manual and maintenance to your access control barrier gate systems.

Operator components and standards

As mentioned before when you are looking for gates and operators, the operator should come first, in the process you must determine the number of cycles, length and weight of the gate, post construction, if the gate is capable of handling to the number of cycles, interface capabilities to work with different access control systems, to major design differences, to AC, DC or hydraulic. Hiring an access control installer company can be a good way to determine the specific requirements and recommendations to resolve any doubts you may have when you choose the size operator you need for an application.

As noted earlier, each manufacturer will provide a different experience because some may have their own control board and unique things that others might not have. As a matter of fact, Linear simplifies things for the installer by using a universal control board that is the same for the entire product line. Even though some manufacturers rather to remain individual features most gate operators share common factor standards.

Power options

Commonly operators work with two of these power resources either AC motors or DC motors. AC motors are typically used on larger gates because they provide a higher range of power or contrarily DC motors have added features such as having a slow start and slow stop on a gate, and also they have battery back-up systems so the gate can keep running even if you lose power.
