WHAT IS A KEYPAD LOCK?

A keypad is a set of buttons with all alphanumerics and a couple o symbols. The keypad access control look has remained the same since its invention in the 1960s, but its functionality has expanded widely.

Access control keypads applications:

Keypads play a significant role in access control applications, but some keypads offer different features and technologies than others.

Membrane keypads:

Household appliances use Membrane keypads as well as commercial applications. These membrane keypads consist of a top layer, some keys printed on the front, a space layer, and a back layer with conductive stripes. Therefore, when the user presses the key, the access control system will register the key press.

Dome switch keypads:

Commercial applications use dome switch keypads, combining a flat-panel membrane and a mechanical-switch keypad. These keypads are highly recommended and reliable for commercial and work-related applications because the domes create tactile feedback when pressed.

Scissor-Switch keypad:

Scissor-switch keypads have different features, but most contain three layers. The scissor-switch design lives up to its name because it is like scissors containing two separate plastic pieces that lock together and a rubber dome that makes it an improved version.

Capacitive keypad:

This capacitive keypad is not a popular product because it comes with access control applications, but the still a viable choice. It is designed and produced with foam element keys and finished with aluminum.

TYPES OF KEYPADS:

Keypad lock on door:

Keypads have a variety of types and designs that meet an extensive range of security needs. Some keypad access control locks might use either a simple key-and-tumbler design and others with more significantly advanced technology. Keypad locks are available in two varieties, individual locks that are part of a larger security system or individual locks that contains all of the hardware and controls of the lock in a single unit. Both work with an small electrical source to release the lock bolt.

Keypad lock on door:

Standalone keypad access control can be used in different application, they typically come as flush mount, singl-gang design which is easy for installation into drywall. These pin pads can be a great addition if you already have an access control or even if you don’t and these standalone pin keypads can support different types of pin between 1 and 6 codes.

Access control keypads are commonly used at industrial environments jobs all with the purpose of time and attendance tracking.
