The Nedap ANPR Lumo is an all-in-one, intelligent License Plate Security Camera. Specifically, it is built for vehicle access system, parking management, and automated toll systems. Furthermore, it functions as a fully autonomous, standalone unit. Therefore, it packs the camera sensor, an optimized IR illuminator, and deep-learning software inside one weatherproof housing. The Nedap ANPR Lumo operates through an integrated, edge-based process to detect vehicle and transmit data to an access system network for security cameras Miami.

Integrated Capture and Illumination

As a vehicle enters the camera’s detection zone, the built-in 850 nm Infrared (IR) illuminator lights up to license plate. The camera’s 1/1.8” CMOS sensor captures the image of the IR-reflective plate at a distance of 6.5 to 33 feet (2 to 10 meters).

Edge-Based Processing

The embedded analyzer and pre-loaded software process the image directly on the camera, eliminating the need for an external server.

Deep Learning Recognition

Onboard deep learning algorithms and regional classifiers analyze the captured image to read the characters, accurately interpreting both standardized and non-standardized license plate formats, as well as ADR Hazard Identification Numbers (Kemler Codes).

Local Access Evaluation (Stand-alone Mode)

If configured as a stand-alone solution, the camera cross-references the recognized plate against an internal, web-managed access list (supporting up to 100,000 plates) to check time-based white lists, black lists, or ignore lists.

Data Conversion and Output

The camera converts the recognized license plate characters into the required network protocol or data string. For standard physical security integration, it translates the plate number directly into a Wiegand ID string.

Transmission to Controllers

Finally, the device transmits the data or trigger command to an access system panel, parking system, or third-party software using its digital I/O, a REST API, Ethernet, Wiegand, or a secure RS485 connection via OSDP v2.

WHERE NEDAP ANPR LUMO CAN BE INSTALLED?

PHYSICAL MOUNTING LOCATIONS

The camera comes standard with a universal mounting bracket allowing it to be physically installed on:

Poles

Mounted directly onto a pole positioned either in front of or directly behind a vehicle traffic gate or barrier arm.

Walls

Bolted securely to the exterior walls of buildings, guard booths, or parking structures adjacent to a driving lane.

Overhead Structures

Installed directly above the center of a traffic lane (such as on gantry cranes, ceiling structures in parking garages, or overhead beams) to look straight down at arriving vehicles.

At Bumper Height (Behind the Barrier)

If space allows and the line of sight is clear, it can be mounted low to the ground at bumper height (approx. 0.5 meters high) roughly 1 to 3 meters behind a gate or barrier to capture plates right at the stop line.

KEY SPATIAL REQUIREMENTS FOR INSTALLATION

To ensure successful license plate recognition during installation, the camera must be positioned to meet these structural parameters:

Read Distance

The target area must be located between 6.5 to 33 feet) (2 to 10 meters) away from the camera lens.

Lane Width

Tha camera covers up to 11.5 feet (3.5 meters) of space, meaning it should be dedicated to one traffic lane at a time.

Capture Angle

The horizontal and vertical viewing angle between the camera lens and the vehicle’s license plate should ideally be kept under 25 degrees to avoid reading errors.
