Nedap uPass Go
Efficient Long-Range Vehicle Identification for Modern systems
As organizations continue to improve security and streamline vehicle access management. Long-range RFID technology has become an essential component of modern access systems. The Nedap uPASS Go is one of the most popular vehicle identification readers available today. It offer a reliable performance, easy installation, and cost-effective operation. Designed by Nedap Identification Systems, the uPASS Go provides secure hands-free vehicle access for parking facilities, condominiums, commercial properties, industrial sites, and other controlled entry points.
What is the Nedap uPASS Go?
This Nedap antenna is a long-range UHF RFID reader specifically designed for automatic vehicle identification. Unlike traditional access methods that require drivers to stop and present a card or remote control. The uPASS Go automatically identifies vehicles as they approach an entrance or exit.
The system uses passive UHF RFID tags mounted on the vehicle’s windshield. When a vehicle enters the reader’s detection zone. The access control system automatically opens a gate, barrier, or parking entrance after identifying the RFID tag.
This hands-free process improves convenience while maintaining a high level of security. Nedap designed the reader to deliver dependable performance in both indoor and outdoor environments, making it suitable for a wide range of vehicle access applications

Key Features
The uPASS Go provides one of its primary advantages through its long read range. Depending on the type of RFID tag used and the installation conditions, the system can identify vehicles from up to 10 meters (approximately 33 feet). This allows drivers to maintain a smooth flow of traffic without stopping at access points.
The uPASS Go operates on passive UHF RFID technology, which requires no batteries in the vehicle tags. This design choice not only reduces maintenance needs but also lowers total ownership costs compared to active RFID systems that rely on battery-powered tags.
Functionality
Nedap designed the uPASS Go as a long-range UHF RFID reader for automatic vehicle identification. Unlike traditional access methods that require drivers to stop and present a card or remote control, the uPASS Go automatically identifies vehicles as they approach an entrance or exit.

Advanced RFID Technology
Operating within the 865–928 MHz frequency range, the uPASS Go is fully compliant with ISO 18000-6C and EPC Gen 2 standards, ensuring broad compatibility with passive RFID credentials. Its circularly polarized antenna delivers consistent, high-quality read performance regardless of windshield tag orientation, offering greater installation flexibility and enhancing user convenience.
How the uPASS Go Works
Operating the Nedap antenna is simple and efficient. Each authorized vehicle is equipped with a passive UHF RFID tag, usually affixed to the inside of the windshield. This tag stores a unique identification number that links the vehicle to its user.
As a vehicle approaches an entry point, the uPASS Go reader emits radio frequency signals to activate the passive tag. The tag then transmits its unique identification data back to the reader.
The reader forwards this information to the access system, which verifies the credentials and determines whether to grant access. If the information is valid, the system automatically opens the gate, barrier arm, or parking entrance.
This entire process occurs within seconds, allowing vehicles to enter quickly and efficiently without any driver intervention.
Benefits
Improved Traffic Flow
The system significantly reduces vehicle waiting times. Drivers no longer need to stop, lower their windows, or manually present credentials, which allows for faster and smoother entry and exit.
Enhanced Security
Each RFID tag features a unique identifier linked to a specific vehicle or user. This helps prevent unauthorized access and enables accurate monitoring of vehicle movements.
User Convenience
Hands-free access greatly enhances the user experience. Residents, employees, and authorized visitors can enter facilities without any interaction with access devices.
Reliable Performance
The uPASS Go is designed for continuous operation, even in demanding environments. Its robust construction ensures dependable performance in various weather conditions, including rain, heat, and cold.
Lower Operational Costs
The use of passive RFID tags eliminates the need for batteries, reducing maintenance requirements and minimizing long-term operational expenses.
Integration with Access Systems devices
A major strength of the Nedap uPASS Go is its compatibility with a variety of access systems platforms. The reader can integrate with gate controllers, parking management systems, security software, and building access systems devices.
This flexibility allows organizations to add long-range vehicle identification without replacing their existing infrastructure. The result is a scalable solution that can grow as security and operational requirements change.
