The AWID LR-3000 is an Ultra-High-Frequency (UHF) long-range RFID reader primarily engineered for Automatic Vehicle Identification (AVI) and hands-free access system applications, such as gated communities, parking facilities, and industrial rolling gates.

Passive Tag Technology
This Awid RFID it operates using cost-effective, battery-free passive UHF credentials. Because the tags don’t rely on internal batteries, they offer an unlimited operational lifespan.
Adjustable Field & No Cross-Talk
Installers can program the RF power level and the read repetition rate in the field. This allows you to tighten the read zone diameter (typically about 6 feet wide at max distance) to prevent accidental lane cross-reading or “tailgating” triggers.
Optional Arming Control
The reader features a transmission control loop input. It can be paired with a buried vehicle loop detector or safety photo eye so that the reader only emits an RF field when a physical vehicle is present.
Credential Ecosystem Integration
The LR-3000 uses AWUD’s proprietary encryption for communication. It can seamlessly integrate with standard building access systems, allowing users to utilize dual-technology credentials (like the uAxcess series) where the same card works for long-range vehicle gates and close-range building doors.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
The AWID LR-3000 works by establishing a continuous, localized wireless communication zone using Ultra-High-Frequency (UHF) Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology.
GENERATING THE RF FIELD
FREQUENCY HOPPING
The reader continuously transmits a low-power, circular-polarized RF (Radio Frequency) field in the license-free 902 to 928 MHz UHF band. It uses frequency-hopping technology to prevent signal interference with other nearby wireless devices.
CONTROLLED TRANSMISSION (OPTIONAL LOOP ARMING)
To avoid unnecessary RF emission and prevent lane cross-reading, the reader can be wired to an optional buried vehicle loop detector. When a vehicle drives over the loop, it closes a circuit that “arms” the reader, causing it to transmit the RF field only when a vehicle is physically present.
ENERGIZING THE PASSIVE TAG
BATTERY-FREE ACTIVATION
When a vehicle equipped with an AWID passive tag (such as a windshield sticker or rearview mirror tag) approaches within its 25-foot range, the tag enters the reader’s circular RF field.
BACKSCATTER COUPLING
Because these passive tags are completely battery-free, they harvest electromagnetic energy directly from the reader’s signal to power up their internal microchip. The tag then alters and reflects (backscatters) the signal back to the reader, transmitting its unique encrypted ID number.
DECODING AND SECURE VALIDATION
PROPRIETARY ENCRYPTION
The integrated antenna captures the weak reflected signal from the tag and passes it instantly to the built-in reader electronics.
DATA VERIFICATION
The reader uses AWID’s proprietary encryption protocols to securely decode the communication. If the tag format matches (ranging from 26-bit to 50-bit Wiegand formats), the reader processes the data.
VISUAL CONFIRMATION
The moment a valid tag is read, the reader’s LED indicator blinks Green (while a steady Red light remains on to show the device has constant DC power).
RELAYING DATA TO THE ACCESS SYSTEM
SIMULTANEOUS DATA OUTPUT
Once decoded, the reader immediately sends the credential’s data out through its integrated 10-conductor shielded cable.
PANEL COMMUNICATION
It broadcasts this data simultaneously via Wiegand (up to 500 feet to a standard access system panel) and RS-232 (up to 75 feet to a local computer or serial device). The main access system panel then verifies if that specific vehicle ID has authorization to enter and triggers the gate operator to open without requiring the driver to stop.
