OTIS COMPASS 360
Otis Compass 360 is an advanced destination dispatch system (DDS) developed by Otis that improves elevator efficiency by assigning passengers to the most appropriate elevator based on their destination floor before they enter the elevator. Instead of pressing a floor button inside the cab, passengers select their destination using a touchscreen, keypad, access card, or mobile credential in the lobby. The system then directs them to a specific elevator, reducing unnecessary stops and improving traffic flow throughout the building.
Compass 360 uses intelligent algorithms to group passengers traveling to the same or nearby floors into the same elevator. This approach significantly reduces waiting times, shortens travel times, and increases the handling capacity of the elevator system. That make it especially valuable in high-rise office buildings, hotels, hospitals, universities, and mixed-use developments where passenger traffic is heavy.
Control cabinets
One of the most significant changes introduced with Compass 360 is the redesigned Dispatcher. That system consolidates the previous multi-cabinet arrangement into a single controller cabinet while maintaining full redundancy. This simplified architecture reduces installation complexity, saves machine room space, and improves overall system reliability. That features get a seamless glass surface that offers improved durability, a modern appearance, and easier maintenance compared to previous models.
How Compass 360 Works
Compass 360 integrates advanced technologies designed to enhance both passenger experience and building efficiency:
- SmartGrouping™ technology efficiently groups passengers headed to nearby floors, reducing wait times and improving service speed.
- Capacitive touchscreen destination entry devices feature sleek glass interfaces and are available in a variety of sizes.
- Intelligent wayfinding systems provide clear guidance, directing passengers to the appropriate elevator quickly and intuitively.
- Seamless integration with building security, access control, and visitor management systems enhances safety and convenience.
- Touchless, credential-based operation via RFID cards, Bluetooth, or mobile devices.
- Customizable user interfaces allow the system to reflect a building’s unique branding and design aesthetic.
- Comprehensive accessibility features assist passengers with disabilities, ensuring an inclusive experience for all users.
Security Integration
One of Compass 360’s most valuable capabilities is its integration with building security systems. It can communicate with access control platforms so that users are automatically assigned elevators based on their authorization level. For example, an employee who presents an approved credential may only receive access to permitted floors. Visitors can be assigned temporary access to specific destinations. This makes Compass 360 an excellent solution for office towers, hospitals, government facilities, and high-security buildings.
