Schindler PORT 4 serves as the primary user interface and entry point for Schindler’s destination dispatch engine (known as PORT Technology or PORT 4D). Instead of treating destination dispatch as a separate system, PORT 4 acts as the edge device where intent, identity, and mathematical traffic optimization intersect thanks to HLI Connection Destination Dispatch.
Intent Capture (At the Lobby, Not in the Car)
In a traditional elevator setup, passengers press an “Up” or “Down” button in the hall and select their floor after entering the car.
With PORT 4, the call process shifts entirely outside the elevator:
- Passengers approach a PORT 4 terminal (wall-mounted, pedestal, or integrated into turnstiles) before entering the elevator bank.
- They select their destination floor via the touchscreen, tap an RFID card, present a QR code, or use their smartphone via Bluetooth/NFC (myPORT).
Intent Capture (At the Lobby, Not in the Car)
The moment a passenger presents a destination or credential to a PORT 4 terminal:
- Transaction Request: The terminal sends the request (e.g., User at Ground Floor heading to Floor 14) to the group elevator controller.
